Song of the Lioness is a medieval-inspired fantasy series set in the fictional world of Tortall.
 
The Song of the Lioness series is the story of one girl's journey to defy social conventions and become a valiant knight, and to save Tortall, her homeland, from conquest. Disguised as the boy 'Alan', Alanna swaps places with her twin brother Thom, to go to the royal palace in the city of Corus to train as a page. 
 
On her journey towards knighthood, this feisty heroine must overcome many obstacles, including reigning in her temper, learning to accept the use of magic, and using her small stature to her advantage. 
 
Filled with swords and sorcery, adventure and intrigue, good and evil, Alanna's adventure begins - one that will lead to the fulfilment of her dreams and the magical destiny that will make her a legend in her land.
